My puppet called "Lil' Will"

Schedule for rest of the quarter

After doing a clip or two of my final, I have done the math and with plenty of dedication, it would take me about 12 hours a day for three weeks to finish rotoscoping my animation leaving me with two more weeks for any kind of tweaking. So, I have told my mom that I loved her and not to call, i went to Sams and got a month supply of RedBull and got Papa johns on speed dial, just kidding but really, its gonna be a long second half of the quarter.

Sound and Storyboard

Over the past week or so I have been going out and recording my own sounds for the animation and at the same time working on my storyboards. I chose to do then together because while working on my storyboards I can figure out what kind of sounds I need and work accordingly. I have also written out my script first draft and will type it up and post it later, but the script feels really loose so I am still working on that and the storyboards so that they can sync up.

reference videos

I plan on using something like this but integrated into live action footage.

These three videos are as I say just reference until I get a full plot and story down to where I could see it, then I would be able to decide my absolute style of animation.

Character Development

I have by this point and time put seventeen different characters into their concept stage for the final animation all of which will either interact or come across the main character at some point in the short. Some of them include the western vigilantes the "Wild Dogs" and terribly threating "Savy Pirates Gang" (yes they are actual pirates) and the "Imagines" my own personal collection of homemade imaginary friends (the idea came from the Cartoon Network show "Fosters Home of Imaginary Friends" but they are mine, not from the show) and many others that don't have names yet.

Soon I will post another blog with character sheets and finished drawings.
Stay tuned

Story Premise

My story will revolve around a short day in Savannah and will hopefully be live footage with animation integrated into it. It more than likely wont have any actual dialog but my story will be told through the music that is put to it. It would start off in the morning with the main character waking up and go on through the characters daily routine in a first person point of view, but the audience will see the character through carefully placed mirrors and reflective surfaces in the video, their will also be animated scenery and other people in the short will be animated. The short will end with the main character coming back to the apartment and having some laughs and sitting back with some friends.
Throughout the animation some parts will be live action but most of it will have sort of a "Who killed Roger Rabbit" where its live action in animation then a "Space Jam" feel where it is animation in a live action environment and the music hopefully will help pull the story full circle and some cleverly placed sound clips and an attempt at 2-d effects. It will be running along experimental animation feel and it could change as the quarter goes on but this is what I would really love to do.

Day 1 Post 3 My Animation Idea 1st Draft

I would like to do a simple animation revolving around the city and everyday events. I don't like to use dialogue unless absolutely necessary. I also enjoy telling my stories strictly through visuals and sound, I would like to make a animation that is more visually pleasing other than comically or action packed. Unfortunately I dont have a video yet but I will get one.

Day 1 Post 2 My Favorite Animation

My favorite animation is "Fritz the Cat" by Ralph Bakshi

I love this animation because Bakshi wasn't afraid to push the limit, but tastefully (compared to whats around now) and this animation addressed issues of the radical activists, police corruption and just scandalous activities that were going on around that time and I would like for my animation to address issues that people ignore also and bring serious problems to the surface.
